THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE AND BODYWORK
Whatever your goal, a combination of massage, myofascial, neuromuscular, and craniosacral therapy techniques helps ease restrictions, increases range of motion, stretches muscle fibers, increases body awareness, and restores balance to help you move better and perform your best. Used as preventative care or injury treatment, massage therapy effectively increases range of motion, decreases pain, and speeds recovery.
Sessions are sports-specific to focus on key muscles and draw attention to supportive muscles that contribute to soreness, imbalance, and injury. Our team of massage therapists are also athletes, and have increased their clients’ performance and recovery for a combined 40 years.
Deep Tissue
Working with connective tissue (fascia, tendons and ligaments) as well as muscle, deep tissue work is specific and effective for increasing mobility and function in the body. We work a specific area slowly and thoroughly to allow the body to respond. Although this modality effectively releases deeper muscles, it is often quite relaxing. Despite popular belief, deep tissue massage does not need to be painful. On the contrary, for full therapeutic benefits, we might not go as “hard” as you want; the idea is for the muscle to relax and lengthen, which is impossible if you, the client, are bracing to respond to too much pressure.
Injury Treatment
Whether your injury is in its acute phase or is nagging and won’t go away, massage is extremely effective to bring you back to your normal activity level. Consistent, specific work on the injury site while also taking structural and other imbalances into account help not only heal the injury, but prevent future occurrences by addressing underlying problem areas.
Massage therapy is very effective form many common injuries like Plantar Fascitis, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, whiplash, TMJ dysfunction, headaches, and IT band syndrome.
Sports Massage
From recreational to elite athletes, sports massage is an ideal way to help your body perform its best. Sports-specific massage focuses on the muscles used most frequently during your sport or activity and draws attention to other muscles that can contribute to muscle soreness, imbalance, or injury.
Massage effectively improves flexibility and range of motion; aids in muscle recovery; prevents and treats injuries. By stretching and broadening shortened muscles and increasing circulation to joints, both muscles and joints are able to move more freely. Creating space and increasing circulation in the muscles also allow more nutrients to get to the muscle and waste to be removed.
Specific massage breaks up scar tissue and adhesions that play a role in muscle tightness and soreness. Massage can also release tight muscles and painful trigger points in the muscle that inhibit proper function. Together, these techniques help the muscles recover quicker, stay healthy and more resilient to injury.
